Flagstaff School of Music is thrilled to announce our second annual Summer Celebration to be held on May 17th from 11-5. Yavapai Broadcasting will not only be on location to announce our fun the day of the event, but will also be promoting our event the week prior.
Last year, FSM was excited to partner with great community agencies such as: Flagstaff YMCA, The Guidance Center, State Farm Insurance, Children’s Choral, North Country Clinic, The Literacy Center, Flagstaff Child & Family Services, Simpatico, Coconino Coalition for Children & Youth, Angie’s Salon, Music Together, Flagstaff Community Christian School.
Lunch has been provided by local business friends Satchmo’s and 7 Ate 9, as well as discounts from our favorite coffee house, White Dove Coffee. Two groups that are close to us also came out: Orchestra of Northern Arizona & Flagstaff Friends of Traditional Music, who showed us what a Contra Dance is. This year we are sure to have even more local business friends joining in on the fun as well.
Kids had fun taking a spin on the kiddy caboose, picking a balloon animal, and having their face painted. Everyone played games, spun the prize wheel for community gift certificates or other great prizes. Raffle prizes and candy sales were a hit. All of our proceeds benefit The Think Jesus Project, as they continue to serve the less fortunate in our own community 9 years strong now. Fresh Pet Rescue brings their furry adoptable friends so we can find a way to help the pets find homes. This year, we will have a bounce house, but sadly, no kiddie caboose.
Please join us as select students showcase their final performance, and the Student Band “Star Fang” will be on stage for the 5th live concert. Star Fang’s first Heritage Square concert was in support of National Child Abuse Prevention Month at last month’s Youth Fest. The excitement from the audience was evident at the end of each song. They had an awesome performance this year, on the Orpheum stage to support Youth Fest on Fri. April 25th.
Our party is set to kickoff at 11AM, with performances starting at 4:00 on Sat. May 17th in our parking lot, at the corner of 4th St. & 7th Ave. (behind Satchmo’s & next to White Dove.)
